Running Wild è una storica band heavy metal tedesca formatasi ad Amburgo nel 1976. Considerati pionieri del genere "pirate metal", hanno introdotto il tema pirati nella musica heavy metal con l'album *Under Jolly Roger* (1987), abbandonando le tematiche sataniche presenti nei loro primi lavori. Il chitarrista Preacher (Gerald Warnecke) era un elemento chiave nelle prime fasi della band, ma oggi è un vicario a Colonia. Running Wild ha contribuito in modo significativo alla scena heavy metal tedesca degli anni '80, influenzando numerose band successive.
